Allies Until The End: We Shall Never Surrender
The hearts of decent people in every corner of the globe have been shattered once again after an attack by a suicide bomber at a concert in Manchester, England left 22 people dead and another 59 injured. The trials and tribulations that result from living in a free society have never been easy, but they have always been worth fighting for. Today, we face an increasingly complicated enemy in the form of radical Islamic terrorism. This enemy of free people everywhere continues to threaten all we hold dear.

As people of the free world, we have faced dark times before, just as we are confronted with dark times now. We must look to our past for strength in our future. When confronted by the impending advance of the Nazi’s in World War II, the world looked to the words of Winston Churchill, “We shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.” The only choice was to fight. Nearly Five years after Churchill spoke those words, the Nazi war machine was in ruins.

It took the combined powers of the world to bring about the end of the destruction of the Second World War. We are in a similar position today in our battle against terrorism. Throughout history, the United Kingdom and the United States have worked together to root out evil in all of its forms. We shall do it once more in defeating the Islamic State and all those who practice terrorism. Great forces are on the move in our world, and one day, the enemies of freedom will have to answer to them.

If Winston Churchill were alive today, he would echo his own words from nearly 77 years ago, "We shall go on to the end." As long as we have the moral courage to stand and fight, just like we have always done, this threat will be defeated in time. The spirit of our forefathers who answered the call of duty when the world needed them the most is still with us today. Together, we will overcome. We are allies until the end.
